Luke 1:15b-17
Zechariah and Elizabeth
And he must not drink wine or strong drink, and he will be filled with the Holy Spirit, even from his mother's womb. 16 And he will turn many of the children of Israel to the Lord their God, 17 and he will go before him in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just, to make ready for the Lord a people prepared.” ESV
A People Prepared

Before Jesus ever came, many people knew of all the miraculous things God had done through Elijah, so they remembered the promise from Malachi 4:5 that the coming Messiah would be welcomed by a forerunner who would come in power like Elijah.
Jesus was set apart for the purpose of the redemption of anyone who would receive Him. Set apart just for you. Jesus’ forerunner, John, was filled with the Holy Spirit and set apart from before birth! John prepared people to be set apart before Jesus arrived. They would be ready for amazing things to happen! Lives changed. Hearts turned! Minds renewed! Chains broken! The oppressed, set free!
John made it clear that the Messiah was coming so that we could be made right. So that we could be made whole. John made it clear that the Messiah was coming to transform us into a people who are prepared to show the entire world God’s glory and wonder!
Prayer
Lord, prepare me for the good things You have for me. Amen.
