SERMONS
SERMONS
Part 1
Today, Abundant Life Church starts a new series in the book of Acts, which is a continuation of the book of Luke and a continued look at the work of Jesus through His followers. As we start to look at this historic book of the Bible, we see followers who were eyewitnesses of Jesus are our best examples of how we can live our lives with REAL FAITH!
Part 2
In Week 2 of Acts: REAL FAITH, we look at Jesus' final words to his disciples before he ascended into heaven. These instructions were so important because Jesus was entrusting the continuation of his ministry to them. These instructions are just as important for us as we continue to carry out Jesus’ mission on earth.
Part 3
Ready, set, wait!
In Acts 1, we see Jesus give final instructions to his disciples. He then ascends into the clouds with the promise of his return spoken by the angels. What will the disciples do? Do they obey Him, or do they ignore Him? This is part 3 of our series in the book of Acts.
Part 4
Ready, set, wait Pt. 2
If you have ever played baseball, you know it’s not fun to strike out. In life there are many “curveballs” that get thrown at us. Life gets complicated. We experience things we are not ready for. How do we handle them? In this message, Pastor Devin continues in Chapter 1 of the book of Acts as we see a curveball that the early followers had to deal with.
Part 5
Don't Be A Judas
“Judas” is not a popular name used in America. Not many parents are choosing to name their child “Judas” over names like “John”, “Mark”, “Carson”, or “Tyler”. The reason goes all the way back to the Bible story of Judas betraying Jesus. In this message, Pastor Devin encourages us, if we are not going to even name our children “Judas”, let us not act like Judas. Let us look at the mistakes he made and learn from him. Even though his mistakes are similar to Peter’s, their outcomes in life are completely different.
Pt. 6
Power, Preaching, People
Sometimes in life we miss the mark. We can focus our attention on the wrong areas or get distracted by the things that don’t matter or are not as important. This also happens in the church today. Pastor Devin starts teaching in Acts chapter 2. This chapter is a model for a healthy purpose and mission for a church, as we see power, preaching and people in Acts 2. In this message, we focus on the Power that we need, and where that power comes from.
Pt. 7
Power, Preaching, People Pt. 2
Pastor Devin continues teaching in Acts This chapter is a model for a healthy purpose and mission for a church, as we see power, preaching and people in Acts 2. In this message, we focus on what is required for communicating the truth of Jesus (Preaching). We look at Peter's example to us and talk about how we can use this in everyday life.
Pt. 8
Power, Preaching, People Pt. 3
Pastor Devin continues teaching in Acts chapter 2. This chapter is a model for a healthy purpose and mission for a church, as we see power, preaching and people in Acts 2. In this message, we focus on how God transforms people’s lives and the importance that community plays in that process. The plan God used 2000 years ago is still being used in our lives today. Open your heart for God’s life changing work today!
Power In His Name
Where does our power come from for life and for peace? Is your spiritual “light” on, or are you sitting in spiritual darkness with no power? As Pastor Devin reads from Acts 3, we will look at the power that is in the name of Jesus. This story reminds us how powerful Jesus is, and the power we can have for our lives.
Power In His Name Pt. 2
What is repentance? What is redemption? In Acts chapter three Jesus works through Peter and John to bring healing to a lame man. The focus was not the healing, the focus was repentance and redemption. Pastor Devin explains the importance of these words and the power they bring through Jesus Christ.
Power In His Name Pt. 3
Pastor Devin teaches on the beginning of persecution that was coming to the disciples for following Jesus. Many times, we think if something bad happens to us, God must not be with us. Yet the early disciples were punished for doing good and following God’s purpose for their life. How should we respond when we are punished for doing good? Open to Acts 4 and join us.
