The Greatest Demonstration of Power Ever Known by Ken Damstrom

Many have the impression that man has created, designed, and developed the greatest power on earth. We have acknowledged the deadly power of the nuclear age. We have undertaken space travel and stopped at the moon, on our way to Mars and distant planets. We might feel like we are in touch with the greatest achievements of reaching a pinnacle of power in our lifetime. We are longing after more power, to run our vehicles, heat/cool our homes, and keep our cities adequately running.  Yet, this is man striving for success, reaching out for more power and control, attempting to control others and himself. What are we really missing?

In our small town, I often marvel at the power of the massive locomotives that pull extensive numbers of train cars loaded with rock from the local quarries. The power has got to be phenomenal. However, as powerful as those trains are, they can quickly become ineffective. How? By simply going off the tracks!  No matter how much power a train has, it is of no use to accomplish any purpose as long as it does not stay on the tracks.  Think of this in terms of Christians trying to accomplish that which they are intended for when they are completely powerless.  So many reasons bump us off the track that we must stay on, in order to be effective in spreading the Good News of  Jesus Christ.

What is the exceeding greatness of His power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of His mighty power, which He wrought in Christ, when He raised Him from the dead, and set Him at His own right hand in the heavenly places.” Eph:1:19,20

In order for those who believe to move on in grace, have victory over the enemy, defeat sin, witness for Jesus Christ, and finally hold onto salvation, they must have the power of God working in and through them.  This power is none other than the greatest power ever known to man; the manifestation, strength, and inner workings of the Holy Spirit. This is the same power that raised Jesus Christ from the dead and placed Him upon the right Hand of God.(vs.20) The Resurrection of Jesus Christ is the greatest exhibition of power, known to man, ever demonstrated!

Paul said in I Corinthians 15, “ If Christ be not raised, then the faith that you have is empty…”  When you understand and believe that Jesus was dead and buried, yet rose again unto life, it changes your views on this life and life hereafter.  Resurrection of Jesus Christ tells us that truth is much stronger than unbelief, and that good beats evil every time.  Love came down to us at Christmas, however, it became clear that love incarnate in Jesus came to stay when the Risen Christ broke the chains of death and rose out of the tomb, to remind us that, because He lives we also live forevermore! When we see Christ in His Risen Power we see displayed, “the exceeding greatness of His power. We have at our acceptance, “Resurrection power for resurrection living.”  In a day where so many disregard the “supernatural”, especially where it applies to Christian living, we surely need to grasp and recognize our need for the dynamite of God’s power.  The spiritual forces of principalities and powers of evil can only be countered with the greatness of God’s power as He moves through His Holy Spirit in and through our lives. Watered down Christianity, taking a relaxed approach, wanting to satisfy everyone will only create intimidation and fear in the Body of Christ.

It is the POWER OF HIS RESURRECTION that keeps us from dying to sin.

It is the POWER OF HIS RESURRECTION that makes us one with Jesus.

It is the POWER OF HIS RESURRECTION that keeps us serving Christ.

It is the POWER OF HIS RESURRECTION that causes us to never give

up in believing that with God all things are possible.

It is the POWER OF HIS RESURRECTION that gives us the ability to press on when life has its darkest moment.

It is the POWER OF HIS RESURRECTION that helps us to reach forward to obtain our inheritance reserved for us.

We must joyfully understand the real meaning of Easter and say with the Apostle Paul, Philippians 3:10…” that I want to know Christ and the power of his  resurrection…”

‘ The British minister, W.E. Sangster, began to lose his voice and mobility in the mid-1950’s. He had a disease that caused progressive muscular atrophy. He recognized the end was near, so he threw himself into writing and praying. In the midst of his suffering he pleaded, “Let me stay in the struggle, Lord. I don’t mind if I can no longer be a general, but give me just a regiment to lead.” Sangster’s voice eventually failed completely, and his legs became useless. On Easter morning just a few weeks before his death, he took a pen and shakily wrote his daughter a letter. In it he said, “It is terrible to wake up on Easter morning and have no voice with which to shout, ‘HE IS RISEN!’– but it would be still more terrible to have a voice and not want to shout.” -Roy B. Zuck

This coming Easter, April 4th, may we shout out the reality of our faith, as we shout, “HE IS RISEN!”  Then we must move on to allow our living to reflect the truth that the resurrection of Jesus Christ is the greatest power in this life, ever demonstrated.
